Vagant Magazine

Vagant is a Norwegian magazine on literature critique published four times a year.
Editor Audun Lindholm wanted the fourth edition of 2009 to be illustrated in the spirit of Ernst Haeckel, a man of many trades, but most known for his multi-colour illustrations of various species. These illustrations often show species grouped together, almost giving the illustrations a pattern-like feel.
The illustrations for Vagant emphasizes the pattern quality in Haeckel's work. The use of a pattern consisting of smaller objects or creatures creates new creatures or objects.
Both cover and full page editorial illustrations were made for this issue.
