Bergen county council in Norway wanted to make a special print job for their 10 year economical plan for art and culture. The document describes in detail all planning and goals for the next ten years. In a national perspective it is a great political statement and has been noticed internationally.
The design for the document is made to be both strict as an official document as well as being eye catching. It was important to visually show a statement.
Bold geometrical illustrations within the document's grid are the only decorative elements. The shapes balance between being illustrations and the visual identity for the document. Bauhaus is the basis for the illustrative elements. It represents a time when various creative fields converged, similar to how Bergen county council must work with all fields of culture and art. A block toy set created by Bauhaus, called 'Bauhaus Bauspiel' is the principal inspiration. The shapes balance on each other on the document's pages - an image on economical balance.
